How to Join

Application Process

Schools wishing to join the ISSN must complete each of the following sections, and are welcome to attach any documents in support of their case as they can.

Section One: Mission

In 200 words or fewer, explain how your school would contribute to the ISSN achieving its mission.

Section Two: Values

In 300 words or less, explain how your school currently demonstrates or exemplifies these values in its current practice.

Section Three: Goals

In 200 words or less, explain how your school would contribute to the ISSN achieving its goals.

Section Four: Specialism in Science Education

In 300 words or less, explain how your school has a demonstrable specialism in the teaching of science, mathematics and technologies. You may provide any documentary evidence by way of attachments which will support your case.

Section Five: High Academic Performance

In 300 words or less, you need to demonstrate that your school performs highly in the domains of science, mathematics and technologies. You may do this by choosing three or more of the following:

  • your school’s high profile in their state or national jurisdiction in Science and STEM education;
  • your school’s success in connecting students to STEM pathways;
  • your school’s commitment to building capacity in Science and STEM education;
  • your school’s commitment to outreach provision in Science and STEM education;
  • your school’s recognition of high performance, or specialist accreditation, awarded by state, national or international authorities

Section Six: Good Citizenship

In 300 words or less, you need to demonstrate that your school will be a ‘good citizen’ of the ISSN. This includes a commitment to the demonstration of excellent behaviour and standard of work of your students at the ISSF event or any events your school will attend, the engagement of your teachers with the programs offered at these events, your school’s timely attention to any payment deadlines and your school’s timely communication with the ISSN administration.

This will also include your commitment to the appointment of an ISSN Co-ordinator in your school, who will become the communication conduit for all ISSN matters.
