World-class Organisation
Our member schools are globally renowned in STEM education, committed to fostering innovation, collaboration, and the development of future scientific leaders.
Welcome to the International Science Schools Network Website!
The International Science Schools Network (ISSN) was formed in 2014 by a group of specialist science schools which had been collaborating together for the previous nine years. The schools decided to consolidate this work and form an organisation which would enable them to broaden their reach and expand their influence in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) more widely. Since that time, the ISSN has grown in size to 33 schools. Membership of the ISSN is now sought by schools across the globe who wish to collaborate and learn from others in order to improve opportunities and outcomes in STEM for their own students.
The ISSN’s work is shaped by its Mission, Values and Goals, as outlined in its Operating Procedures, a copy of which is available on this website.
The Mission of the ISSN, via the collective capacity of our member schools, is to facilitate leading-edge interaction and collaboration for secondary students in STEM, to build collaboration in STEM education between students, enabling them to share their ideas and projects, and solve problems together, and to build professional capacity and collaboration between teachers and Principals by enabling them to share their experiences in and approaches to teaching and learning, and educational leadership.
The Values of the ISSN are RESPECT, COLLABORATION, SUPPORT AND INCLUSION, and a strong SENSE OF COMMUNITY. The ISSN holds the strongest expectation that all member schools will demonstrate and uphold these values in all dealings with each other and in all interactions involving staff and students from ISSN member schools.
The Goals of the ISSN are explained more fully on the website, and provide tangible and achievable means by which the ISSN can spread its positive influence in engaging secondary science teachers and students across the world in its work.
The ISSNs annual feature event is the International Students Science Fair – the ISSF. Beginning in 2001 with the collaboration of the Principals of six schools from Australia, South-East Asia and the United Kingdom, the ISSF annually welcomes ISSN member schools from across the globe to the member school hosting the event. ISSN member schools are at staged levels of either Beginning, Associate or Full, depending on their time in and contribution towards the ISSN organisation.
I welcome you to explore our website and especially information regarding any member schools geographically close to you. In a world where greed and conflict are all too evident, I proudly promote and recommend the International Science Schools Network to you as a model of genuine respect for individual difference, of a willingness to share and create knowledge, and to collaborate fully in the field of science for the betterment of all humankind. We do this work willingly in the hope that our world will be a better place for the effort we make.

For Educators
The LENS (Linking Educators in Network Schools) project was officially proposed and approved at the ISSN Executive Steering Committee Meeting in Singapore in June 2024. Its goal is to promote ongoing collaboration among educators from ISSN member schools. This session provides an excellent opportunity for teachers, particularly those attending the ISSF at MWIT in Thailand in January, to begin networking and engaging online.
